Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is PermaLath recommended for use behind stone?
A: PermaLath 1000 has been tested for use behind stone veneer
and exceeded the maximum stone veneer requirement of 15 lbs/sq.ft.
PermaLath 1000 can replace conventional metal lath for attaching veneer.
Q: How far does PermaLath overlap at horizontal and vertical edges?
A: 3”
Q: How long can PermaLath be exposed prior to applying manufactured stucco.
A: 60 days
Q: Can you use PermaLath on a soffit, ceiling or over open framing?
A: No.
Q. Can PermaLath and PermaLath 1000 be used on fire resistive rated construction?
A: Both PermaLath and PermaLath 1000 have been tested in 1-hour fire resistive rated assemblies. See respective evaluation reports for the assemblies.
Q. Can Permalath 1000 be used with 3/8” stucco?
A. No, only PermaLath should be used with 3/8” stucco.
Q. What type of weather resistive barrier should be used when using PermaLath 1000?
A. On framed construction, a minimum of one layer of No. 15 asphalt felt, complying with ASTM D226 or other approved equivalent. Over wood based sheathing, two layers of Grade D paper.
Other acceptable secondary moisture protection barriers include polymeric weather resistive barriers such as Tyvek® Stuccowrap® and acceptable equals that comply with and are recognized by applicable building code. Trowel/roller applied weather barriers can be used provided a subsequent layer of a polymeric weather resistive barrier such as Tyvek Stuccowrap or Grade D paper is applied over the trowel/roller applied weather barrier.
